Due to current environmental protection requirements, a big netherlands ship management company decided to equip ten container ships with exhaust gas and ballast water treatment systems (scrubber and BWT systems). The ships modification was carried out in a shipyard in Klaipeda/Lithunia.
To integrate the new systems, a series of control valves had to be added and integrated into the existing piping system. In order to supplement the valve control in a time-saving and cost-effective manner, the previous operation via flow diagram and illuminated pushbutton was replaced by modern, computer-based graphic operating stations (Pleiger PPC). The PCM control modules, which can be connected in series, also reduced the wiring effort to just a few days. The connection to the treatment systems is made via data interface and standard communication protocol.
The first two ships meanwhile have been converted and resumed operation.
