Luxury cruise ship to be completed
The commissioning of the valve systems at the “Scenic Eclipse”; in Pula/Croatia was successfully completed at the beginning of July 2019.
According to the shipping company, the “Scenic Eclipse” is the world’s first research yacht and is designed, among other destinations, for trips to the Arctic Ocean. Equipped with 114 luxurious suites and expansive wellness zones, it offers space for 228 passengers and 176 crew members Besatzungsmitglieder (www.scenic.com.au/eclipse).
Pleiger supplied 312 electro-hydraulic valves for the numerous supply and disposal systems on board (e. g. fresh, grey, black water, ballast and fuel-oil). These valves are remote controlled by means of the long-established Pleiger PCL (Pleiger Control Loop) energy and data bus system.
The redundant design using double control and monitoring units, as well as the control of the individual valves via ring wiring with connections to control units in separate fire zones, offers the high functional reliability required on passenger ships.
Of course, the connection to the integrated ship management system also is realized via redundant data connections.
Details on the PCL system can be found at www.pleiger-elektronik.de/products.
